Graze 2024 weapon mastery
One of the eight weapon mastery properties in the 2024 rules (SRD 5.2). 2 weapons have it.
What Graze does
If your attack roll with this weapon misses a creature, you can deal damage to that creature equal to the ability modifier you used to make the attack roll. This damage is the same type dealt by the weapon, and the damage can be increased only by increasing the ability modifier.
Graze damage
A miss still deals your ability modifier in damage: 3 with a +3 modifier, 5 with a +5. Against a creature your attacks miss half the time, that adds about half your modifier to each attack on average.
